I HAVE COMPLETELY LOST MY MIND! What was I thinking giving up on the swaddles and pacifiers??? NO ONE, NO ONE, I tell you should consult me on ANYTHING related to child-rearing...I have NO idea what I am doing!! :)
Hope everyone gets a good night's sleep and we apologize for anyone that will be at church tomorrow - we will be the ones with the SCREAMING children! Can I give the pacis back???

stay calm! stay calm....okay PANIC!!! You made me laugh. This will pass in a few days...but I know that while you're in the midst of it, it will seem like eternity...update us on how long it takes them to chill...and whatever you do...don't give in..you will have to do this eventually and the older they get...the harder! stay strong!

Girl!!! You poor thing! If you are even AT church in the morning you might deserve a standing O!
Do what you will b/c YOU are the mama- but I want to let you know... we didn't stop swaddling Ashley with the miracle blanket until she was 7.5 months old. And at that point- though we never thought it would happen- she decided herself that she didn't want to be swaddled. We wrapped it TIGHT too, and tucked it in so that she couldn't get out of it. She started rolling over at 5 months, so... you do the math! She couldn't sleep without it b/c she would flail and wake herself up!
She is perfectly fine now and has no developmental issues so no worries there.
Point is, if the books are telling you what to do- but everything in your gut is telling you something else- go with your gut!!
(and yes, you can go back! LOL)
Good luck- and if you are there in the morning, I'm giving you a big hug!! :)

Poor Meredith! I am not looking forward to this stage of parenting at all. Hopefully you will have it all figured out and can help the rest of us girls! Good luck!

Well...Meg is Claustrophobic like her Mom and NEVER wanted to be swaddles. I mean we would spend 5 minutes trying to get it done really tight and she would have her arms out in seconds and legs out shortly after. On the paci thing. Meg is 20 months and still uses the paci for naps. She doesn't sleep with it at night and never takes it any other time. Those things worked themselves out. I just slowly started not giving it to her in different situations. I had also weaned her off at nap time, but them she got sick and I needed that nap. The night time thing was easy. We just didn't give it to her one night and she cried for like 60 sec. and never took it at night again. She was about a year old though.

i'm with lauren. we didn't stop swaddling our kids until they didn't want to be swaddled anymore. after 6 months with cale and before 6 months with ellie. as for the paci - personally i don't think its that big of a deal for them to have it for awhile. i probably let my kids have them too long by some standards, but it really helps sometimes :) we had no trouble getting cale off it when the time was right. ellie still has hers :)

hang in there. it'll get better. parenting is hard work! love you.

You do what is right for G and K! And for you! I know it is not easy no matter what. Just hang in there and you will know what is right for them soon. Praying! Love you!

It was good to see all of you at church this morning! The kids did great, and you look wonderful. Ranger has been missing G & K, so we were very happy to be at church with you!

Please don't give the paci's back. It can take a week or so to get used to, but the younger they are, the easier it is! As with all things with kids...this too shall pass! :)

You know, I've just been so happy that Holden will take a pacifier, I haven't even thought of taking it away from him yet. Griffin still sucks his thumb (at 4 1/2) and it is a HARD habit to break. If I don't give Holden a paci, he usually puts his fingers in his mouth. So, I just keep pulling his fingers out and putting his paci back in.

Anyway, you'll figure out what works best for you. Hope things go better for you tonight!
