This was an email forwarded to me today! I wanted to let as many people know as possible so everyone could help!!
Dear Friends,
Some of you may have seen the news recently with reports of the Russian Equestrian Circus that was abandon by their American promoter in downtown Dallas. The performance group, Artania, which immigrated from Russia to Canada to bring their show to North America was brought to Texas a few months ago to perform in Houston and Dallas by an American production company. This producer failed to market their shows and consequently their performances were under-attended. Last week, the producer abruptly cancelled all remaining shows and left 35 performers and 19 horses in a parking lot in downtown Dallas without water or electricity.
Yesterday, the barn where I board my horse agreed to take in all 19 of the horses, as well as house some of the horses' caretakers. They will be staying at Black Star Sport Horses here in Rockwall until they can raise enough funds to make their way back to Canada. The owners of Black Star, the Blackmon family, have graciously opened up their stables, arena and homes so that the horses have a safe place to stay in the the hot Texas heat. In order to help the performers get home, the Blackmons have also agreed to allow them to hold some special performances in the Black Star arena. The money raised from these performances will go directly to the group. Plans for the performances are still being finalized, but there are four performances scheduled for this coming weekend. Friday and Saturday evenings performances will be held at 7:00pm, as well as afternoons shows scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at 4:00. General admission is $35.00 and VIP tables are being sold for $75.00 per person.
I have attached a youtube link with a video of their performance in Houston and it is quite amazing. I had the opportunity to meet the horses today and I can tell you that they are some of the most beautiful and unique horses I have ever seen. Their breeding is unlike anything we have here in the US. Please consider bringing your family out to Black Star this weekend to show these performers some good old Texas hospitality and help them get back to their homes. Black Star is located on 549 between 205 and Horizon. You can't miss it! You can also check out the Black Star website at www.lisablackmon.com
